How to install Internet Explorer on Ubuntu

Here is a guide to three different versions of IE on a system Ubuntu, suitable for Web Designer who want to verify any compatibility issues of their sites with the Microsoft browser.

IEs4Linux is the easiest way to see Microsoft Internet Explorer run on a Linux system (or on any OS running Wine).

No tedious installation process, no complication Wine, only a simple script to have up to four different versions of IE (from 5 to 7), which test the graphics of your sites.
The software, produced by a young Brazilian, is free and open source, and already enjoys the confidence of many webmasters worldwide.

The installation on Ubuntu, we're going to quickly analyze, has no particular difficulty.
IEs 4 Linux need to 2 software packages: cabextract and Wine. You can easily install them using your Manager packages (apt-get) or directly from their website.
From the terminal:

sudo apt-get install wine cabextract

In case you should encounter problems, I encourage you to follow the proceedings in English indicated on official website.

Later, you'll need to download IEs 4 Linux, extract it and start the installation with the command "ies4linux." To install the beta version of IE7, just add to command the option -beta-install-ie7.

Entering into details, you can start the installation by typing, from a terminal, the following commands:

wget http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/downloads/ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
tar zxvf ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
cd-* ies4linux
./ies4linux -beta-install-ie7

If you are a good webdesigner, you should check your website with Microsoft Internet Explorer as well as FF or other browsers.
