How to use La Fonera as a network bridge/switch
This short tutorial will ensure access between computers connected via WiFi to the LAN, as well as adding a lot of new features to your Fonera, allowing you to share files and printers between the two networks.
How many of you Foneros haven't the ability to access computers on the LAN from those connected via wireless (or vice versa)?
I imagine every one of you, and I imagine that many of you have stop trying, giving up the possibility of sharing documents and Printers, perhaps opting for solutions that depart from the FON community.
The purpose of this guide is precisely to handle this problem, giving an answer to those people who was wondering if a solution is possible.
Well, there is a solution, read on and you get some very practical answers. The method has been tested on a router La Fonera, while for the router La Fonera + there are even more simple solutions, that will be not discuted in this guide.
First of all install the FreeWLAN addon on La Fonera routers, following the official guide.
If you experience problems, let us know by commenting at the end of the article and you'll get the necessary support to complete the installation.
After the FreeLAN firmware update (currently the latest version is 0.9.5), go to your Fonera website interface using a PC connected via wireless to the MyPlace network, pointing to the adress http://192.168.10.1.
First, once you have recovered from the shock caused by the various innovations the addon installed, you'll have to change the language, setting your own.
The operation is very rapid: in the left menu click on GUI Settings, at the first item (language) choose your desired language and confirm with the Send button.
Let's go to the point of our brief guide...
From the menu on the left, select Advanced, and from the submenu, go to Network Settings. In Bridge Private Wifi to LAN / WAN-Port, choose the option "Yes" and confirm your choice by clicking Submit.
That's all folks! All you have to do now is to wait a few seconds for a router La Fonera with a bridge/switch functionality between LAN and wireless networks.
Notes
If the procedure described in the guide is successful, the router will no longer be reached by 192.168.10.1 address, but with the new one you set, in a static or DHCP mode.
